TAKANAKA started using YAMAHA SG around the time when he was working on his third album An Insatiable High in the late '70s. Since then, YAMAHA SGs were part of his history.
In the early '80s, TAKANAKA switched to a blue SG2000. The blue was specially ordered by TAKANAKA and surprisingly the same blue was not officially available until Yamaha produced the true replica SG-2000MT in '98. TAKANAKA used blue SG-2000 mostly on his stage because of its visually looked great. Instead, he used SG-1000 RS for recording work since he prefered SG 1000's warm tone over SG2000's tone. Other SGs he used in that era were white SG-2000 and Gold SG-3000. Most of them were seen in Guitar Fantasia and TAKANAKA SUPER LIVE VHSs.
Geek SG you see on SAUDADE art work was the pink SG which had tremolo bar and many control knobs. It gathered attention however I seemed pink SG was not reliable enough to use on the stage or recoding work.
The famous rainbow colored SG-1000 was specially made for his 虹伝説 tour. That guitar was seen in Rainbow Goblins Story (Live At Budokan) DVD.
In the mid '80s, TAKANAKA ordered special SG which is now called SG-T. That SG-3000 based model was covered by see-through navy blue with alphabets (T, A, K and N from TAKANAKA) and palm tree inlays on the top of the body. The SG-T became his new trade mark and TAKANAKA used it for both recording and stages. There was variant of SG-T which was almost idential but difference in body inlays. Both are seen in JUNGLE JANE TOUR LIVE DVD.
There were two replicas for SG-T from YAMAHA; One was SG-T sold in the late '80s but we call it SG-T1 to distinguish from TAKANAKA's original SG-T. The other was SG-T2. See-throuh navy or red was available for SG-T1 and SG-T2.
TAKANAKA introduced new SG for his tour in '97. Yes, that was yet another 虹伝説 spec SG which can be seen in TOUR '97 虹伝説II ACT-I THE WHITE GOBLIN.
He brought new SG at the stage of Yaon in 2003. That blue SG was a special TAKANAKA model based on SG 2003 model with same characteristics seen in SG-T except tremolo system. The concept seemed like blending SG-T playability onto the classic look of his blue SG2000.
Next year he introduced yet another special TAKANAKA model with see-through navy on beautiful maple top with a pickup selector near volume control. This model is, unfortunately, not seen in any DVDs.
